Norgen Biotek Corp. has been approved by the National Sciences and Engineering Council of Canada (NSERC) to be eligible for Undergraduate Student Research Award (USRA) funding. Candidates gain valuable experience in molecular biology, virology, cell culture & various aspects of product development in an industrial setting.
Through the University of Calgary, students enrolled in the Masters of Biotechnology program (MBT) are provided with sponsorship of practical experience at various industries. To date, Norgen Biotek Corp. has graciously accepted two MBT students for summer work terms. The students received hands-on training in various molecular biological techniques, such as bacterial cloning, recombinant protein expression and purification, DNA purification and sequencing, PCR and gel electrophoresis.
Norgen Biotek Corp. has also participated in the Summer Career Placements Program (SCP) supported by Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC). The SCP promotes the hiring of students at a broad range of industries, allowing the candidates to acquire valuable work experience, knowledge, and skills in preparation for their future career paths.
